MOTHERSHIP: Texan rockers return for UK/EU tour this summer | New LP out this month on Ripple Music

Texan psych rockers Mothership are set to cross the Atlantic this summer and crash onto European shores with a tour in support of their brand new studio album, High Strangeness.

Formed in 2010 by brothers Kyle and Kelley Juett and later joined by Judge Smith on drums, the trio have gained a solid reputation as non-stop road warriors, sharing stages with the likes of Slayer, Alice In Chains, Ghost and Baroness in the last twelve months alone. With a tireless work ethic that has seen them play countless festivals, nightclubs, bars and motorcycle parties across the USA, Canada and Europe, the band were rewarded for their efforts last year winning Dallas’ Best Metal Act at the 2016 Dallas Observer Music Awards.

Released on 17th March, High Strangeness is the third studio album and highly anticipated follow-up to their 2014 Ripple Music-released LP, Mothership II. Recorded by Ryan Lee (Crypt Trip) and mastered by Tony Reed (Mos Generator/Stone Axe) it delivers eight songs of “supersonic intergalactic heavy rock” in an amped-up take on ’70s rock and roll fury, laced with everything, from electrifying psychedelics to progressive space rock elements.

Returning to Europe later this summer the band kick off their journey with an appearance at Freak Valley Festival in Germany on 17th June before arriving in the UK for a string of dates with rising rockers Poseidon in support.

Mothership Live Over Freak Valley and US tour dates

After the rerelease of their momentous second album and a storming start to 2015, Mothership – the hard rocking supersonic/intergalactic Texan trio – are pleased to announce the arrival of Mothership Live Over Freak Valley this coming November on Ripple Music.

Recorded at their debut European appearance at the iconic German rock festival, brothers Kyle and Kelly Juett along with Judge Smith have captured their steaming hot stew of UFO and Iron Maiden inspired metal; southern Molly Hatchet and ZZ Top swagger, and deathly Sabbathian doom. A concoction that should by all accounts prove too heavy to handle on record, but as fans will soon discover, Mothership Live Over Freak Valley will deliver the filth and fury of the full Mothership live experience.

Since 2013 the band has travelled non-stop, playing live across the USA, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe; taking to festival stages, nightclubs, and under the sun at whatever motorcycle parties they could find. They are for all intents and purposes a heavy rock juggernaut that has only just begun to tear a hole in the cosmos. And guess what? They have no plans of slowing down for anyone.

Over the coming months Mothership also embark on The Drunk As Sh*t Tour with fellow rockers Crobot and Wilson where the band will have CDs of Mothership Live Over Freak Valley on sale ahead of its official vinyl release on Ripple Music at the end of the year. Ripple Music Celebrates its Fifth Birthday with Anniversary Sampler

This month marks a very special anniversary for the California-based independent record label Ripple Music, a venture kick started exactly half a decade ago by music-lovers and avid record collectors Todd Severin and John Rancik.

“From the beginning, we wanted to run Ripple differently than other labels,” explains Severin. “The music business was already in the beginnings of a transformation and we wanted to help drive a stake through the heart of the old ‘greedy, controlling’ record label. Ripple Music has always been a true partnership between label and band, two forces working hard together to release the best heavy music we can.”

In 2007, with their feet planted firmly in the field of music journalism and a website called The Ripple Effect – set up by both Severin (a former radio DJ) and Rancik (former lead singer of San Diego punk/metal band Blind Justice) – the pair became indebted to all things rock and dedicated to uncovering what they believed at the time was quite simply, “The Best Music You’re Not Listening To.” Praised by the likes of Guitar World Magazine, as one of the top music sites around it wasn’t long before their venture grew to incorporate a record label in 2010, after they were approached by legendary proto-metallers JPT Scare Band who wanted to release several previously unheard tracks from their archives.

“I’d gotten to know JPT Scare Band, after writing a review of their compilation Sleeping Sickness. One thing led to another and before I knew it I was holding in my hands a series of fully mastered unreleased recordings by the band with the mandate to ‘put them out.’ With that not-so-gentle nudge, Ripple Music the record label was born,” says Todd.

Since the release of JPT Scare Band’s Acid Blues Is The White Man’s Burden, and a second reissue released that same year (the 1972 album Let Me In by the cult band Poobah) the label has unearthed music of the highest order by some of the scene’s best and brightest in the world of heavy rock, psych, metal, proto-metal and doom. Mos Generator, Mothership, Stubb, Iron Claw, Trucker Diablo, Grifter, White Dynomite, Leaf Hound; this year alone has already seen critically acclaimed releases from Switchblade Jesus, Geezer, Space Probe Taurus and Ape Machine, and with highly anticipated albums on the horizon from DoctoR DooM and Sweat Lodge the label is showing absolutely no signs of slowing.

“Bands retain all rights to their own music and Ripple does it’s best to get that music heard around the world,” explains Todd. “We’ve even partnered with other, like-minded labels to co-release certain albums, anything we can do to create awareness and availability for the music. A labor of love to be sure, but a love we’d feel lost without.”

To celebrate their anniversary, the label has compiled a special free 5th Anniversary Sampler, downloadable directly from their Bandcamp page for those keen on delving into the label’s history, and inspired to hear its future. DoctoR DooM announce new album This Seed We Have Sown

“With a devilish affection, the band conjures up a foggy brew of wicked blues and righteous stoner rock.”
Heavy Planet

“DoctoR DooM does everything you could possibly ask of them to introduce themselves as major new players in the heavy rock underground.”
The Ripple Effect

Formed in the French town of Ariège in the Midi-Pyrénées by guitarists Jean-Laurent Pasquet and Jérémie Delattre, since their formation in 2011 DoctoR DooM have blazed an impressive underground trail for followers of new, authentically crafted hard rock, metal and progressive blues.

Having come together out of a shared appreciation for forgotten 60s and 70s music, it didn’t take long for the duo to find kindred spirits in drummer Michel Marcq and bass player Sébastien Boutin Blomfield as they sought to pull together the rhythm section required to knock out a monumentally heavy live set. Initially performing covers of Coven, Thin Lizzy and Deep Purple, out of the riffs and drum rolls of old grew new, original numbers that would later surface fully formed on their 2012 debut DoomO EP on STB Records.

Inspired by the recent wave of Scandinavian stoner/rock bands such as Graveyard, Witchcraft and Spiders, throughout 2013 and 2014 DoctoR DooM took part in a series of high profile festival appearances including Spain’s Riff Ritual Fest, Doom Over Karalis in Sardinia and Germany’s much-celebrated DesertFest before taking to the studio at the end of last year to record their very first LP.

This Seed We Have Sown by DoctoR DooM will be released worldwide on 24th July 2015 on Ripple Music, with a limited vinyl released on STB Records out toward the end of June.
