London power-trio STUBB announce tour dates this October

Following the recent release of their split LP The Theory Of Light And Matter with USA rockers Mos Generator (HeviSike Records), and a blinding cover of Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Little Wing’ for The Greatest Hits Of James Marshall Hendrix on Magnetic Eye Records, the band are rehearsing their back catalogue and prepping new material before entering into the studio early next year to record their highly anticipated, third full length album for Ripple Music.

With these lives dates the band also kick off a new and exciting chapter in Stubb’s story with the arrival of Tom Hobson, who joins forces with Jack Dickinson (Guitar, Vocals) and Tom Fyfe (Drums) as the band’s new bass player, after the recent departure of Peter Holland.

Live Dates:

9th October – Boston Music Rooms, London with The Picturebooks
15th October – The Exchange, Bristol with Siena Root
16th October – The Black Heart, London with Siena Root

Austin psych rockers Sweat Lodge stream debut album with Consequence of Sound

Charged by Consequence of Sound earlier in the year with the task of turning in one of the ‘Most Anticipated Metal Albums of 2015,’ the Austin, TX outfit have made good on their promise with a record that delivers more than you could possibly ever ask from it. Pillaging and plundering some of the most explosive eras of hard rock, heavy psychedelia and proto-metal with a conviction and execution rarely found this side of the millennium; in short, Sweat Lodge’s potential is one that knows no bounds.

Seizing on the southern grooves of Fu Manchu, Saint Vitus, the blues-driven majesty of 70s legends Mountain and fellow Texans ZZ Top, across Talismana – riff after punishing riff, howl after soulful howl – the vintage sound of rock ‘n’ roll reigns supreme, sparked through an engine of uncompromising youth. As anyone who witnessed the band’s debut TV appearance on Last Call With Carson Daly earlier in the year will testify, charismatic front man and vocalist Cody Johnston’s ability to bring it on home is hypnotic. Backed by the gnarled bass fuzz of Austin Shockley, the Bonham-esque drum play of Caleb Dawson and guitar work of Dustin Anderson, the band has been unstoppable this year and with Talismana they have delivered a truly essential record for fans of the genre.

Talismana by Sweat Lodge will be released on 7th August through Ripple Music.

Mothership Live Over Freak Valley and US tour dates

After the rerelease of their momentous second album and a storming start to 2015, Mothership – the hard rocking supersonic/intergalactic Texan trio – are pleased to announce the arrival of Mothership Live Over Freak Valley this coming November on Ripple Music.

Recorded at their debut European appearance at the iconic German rock festival, brothers Kyle and Kelly Juett along with Judge Smith have captured their steaming hot stew of UFO and Iron Maiden inspired metal; southern Molly Hatchet and ZZ Top swagger, and deathly Sabbathian doom. A concoction that should by all accounts prove too heavy to handle on record, but as fans will soon discover, Mothership Live Over Freak Valley will deliver the filth and fury of the full Mothership live experience.

Since 2013 the band has travelled non-stop, playing live across the USA, Canada, United Kingdom and Europe; taking to festival stages, nightclubs, and under the sun at whatever motorcycle parties they could find. They are for all intents and purposes a heavy rock juggernaut that has only just begun to tear a hole in the cosmos. And guess what? They have no plans of slowing down for anyone.

Over the coming months Mothership also embark on The Drunk As Sh*t Tour with fellow rockers Crobot and Wilson where the band will have CDs of Mothership Live Over Freak Valley on sale ahead of its official vinyl release on Ripple Music at the end of the year. Mothership - The Drunk As Sh*t Tour

Monolord return with Vænir and European Tour

“We’re not going to hold back from you discovering your new favorite band. Behold! Monolord.”
Decibel Magazine

“Remember that time you drove your battered old VW out into the woods, took an unfeasible amount of peyote and listened to nothing but Sleep, Ufomammut and YOB for four days straight? No? Well, this is going to trigger one hell of a flashback.”
Terrorizer

“No shit guitar solos, no questionable vocals, just relentlessly heavy riffs generated by this newly formed monolithic Swedish trio. Love their name, sound and heavyweight approach.”
The Bug

Initially formed as a side project in 2013 out of the ashes of Swedish bands Marulk and Rotten Sound – comprising of guitar player and vocalist Thomas Jäger, drummer Esben Willems and bassist Mika Häkki – Monolord emerged as one of 2014’s heaviest, loudest and best-loved breakout bands.

So for those left dumbfounded by the heady mix of mania and tinnitus that came free with the Gothenburg trio’s impressive debut album, the suggestion that this year could see an improvement of any kind might seem impossible to believe. Empress Rising was not just lauded over; many believed it raised the bar for the genre with its doom-metal powered by psychedelic grooves, immense heaviness and cosmic cohesion marking it out instantly for cult classic status. Voted number one doom release of 2014 by CVLT Nation it also featured in countless end of year lists (Metal Sucks, New Noise Magazine, Heavy Planet and Vinyl Factory to name a few); “This is a record no doom devotee can afford to miss, laying out a veritable smorgasbord of great riffs and electrifying moments. Remember the name.” (Rock-A-Rolla)

This April however Monolord return to unleash Vænir. Named after the biggest lake in Sweden, the overall effect of this eagerly awaited album can only be described as vast. Colossal in fact, with the only true metric of certainty being at forty-eight minutes long, across six epic tracks (including the recently released single ‘Cursing The One’) Vænir has the power to level everything it its path.

Vænir by Monolord will be released on 28th April 2015 via RidingEasy Records. For fans looking to experience the sheer power of the band live, Monolord take to the road this February across Europe with fellow Swedes and RidingEasy label mates Salem’s Pot. (See dates below.)
