“Best played loud!” STEREOGUM

“I’m so grateful that we still have Swervedriver making music… this rips!” NPR

“With the influence of ’90s-originated shoegaze music on newer rock bands now more deeply apparent than ever, the titans are back…” SPIN

“Returning to their preferred format of the four-track EP, the Oxford four continue to add ornature to their shoegaze-with-dynamic-rock-knobs-on MO.” CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE

“Another gang of shoegaze OGs return to deliver the goods, the addition of piano and strings bolstering rather than blunting their signature pitch-ben attack.” UNCUT MAGAZINE

“This has all the Swervedriver earmarks: roaring guitars, blazing spaghetti western leads, and that dense harmony style.” BROOKLYN VEGAN

“On their first new music in five years, ‘Volume Control’ features Swervedriver’s usual widescreen guitar-scape alongside an appropriately epic string orchestration.” CLASSIC ROCK MAGAZINE

“This is probably the genius of Swervedriver, never fitting directly under the umbrella of ‘shoegaze’, with a full-frontal ability to not so subtlety force its songs into another direction all together. It’s masterful.” GHETTOBLASTER MAGAZINE

“Shoegaze pioneers Swervedriver are set to release a new EP and its title track and second single is a gorgeous, subdued piece that features prominent piano, mixed in such a way that the keys seemingly meld with the guitar leads. The textural layering renders Swervedriver’s patented psychedelic swirl, but without the dominating amp volumes generally associated with the band and the shoegaze genre in general.” CONSEQUENCE

Volume Control could just as easily have been released at the height of Swervedriver’s first stint of Creation Records-backed fame back in 1993 as in the first month of 2025.THE IRISH NEWS

“These are four pure shoegaze tracks that demonstrate the skill of the Oxford combo. Five years have passed since the excellent Future Ruins, but just one listen to ‘Volume Control’ and you will understand that inspiration has not failed.” ROCKHARD ITALY

“The World’s Fair EP is Swervedriver operating at the top of their game. It contains everything you could want from them. You get lush, shimmering, and trippy guitars, along with some grittier rock and hooks galore. Its four songs are a reminder of what a great band they are.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ NEW NOISE MAGAZINE

“Swervedriver has that signature dreamy alt-rock energy, with swirling guitars that almost make you feel like you’re floating […] It gives the impression of being taken through different worlds.” MXDWN

“The World’s Fair is both wondrous and uneasy, with excellent keyboards accompanying the psychedelic maelstrom of guitars, bass, and drums. Curious, very cool and highly recommended!” ECHOES AND DUST

“A pure dreampop extravaganza…” THE 13TH FLOOR

“The World’s Fair is a beacon of happiness, an occasionally spine-tingling slice of everything that made Swervedriver great back then, and proof positive that this vitality endures.” UNDER THE RADAR

“I will keep screaming it from the rooftops how much Swervedriver rules, and these four new songs help my cause for sure. 8/10” MUSIPEDIA OF METAL

“A group who weren’t really appreciated back in the day and just perceived to be simply another ‘shoegaze’ band which is so off the mark. A new album must hopefully be on the horizon and the possibility of dates in the UK a mouth watering prospect. 8.5/10” MAXIMUM VOLUME MUSIC

“Marking the end of a five-year hiatus and coming just in time to still ride the crest of the current shoegaze revival, this is a very welcome return and if they aren’t destroying eardrums this time around, their magisterial side is soaring higher than ever. Swervedriver are still blowin’ cool.” BROOKLYN VEGAN

“As with their shoegaze contemporaries, Swervedriver have reunited and produced records like this which surpass those that came before. With age comes experience and a finely honed songwriting ability of which The World’s Fair is a perfect example. 8/10” GHOST CULT MAGAZINE

PRESS INFO:

Following the recent reissue of Swervedriver’s celebrated 99th Dream, along with last year’s essential outtakes/demos package Doremi Faso Latido, the band is thrilled to announce that they have partnered up with Outer Battery Records once again for the release of their brand-new EP, The World’s Fair.

“We haven’t really done an EP since our days with Creation,” explains guitarist/vocalist, Adam Franklin. “I have no idea why it was the done thing back then, but it was a cool way to present your music with no sort of commitment to direction. You could just go off on one on any song if you wanted, and that’s what we wanted to do again here. I’ve always consumed music via singles anyway and was always partial to a good B-side or three.”

Finding Swervedriver back at their inimitable best The World’s Fair EP offers up a clutch of original songs for the first time since the release of 2018’s Future Ruins. No hard-sell, no grand concepts, just pure joyous rock leading the charge with a dizzying sonic assault on the senses, that piles trademark Swervedriver guitars atop of lush psychedelic overtones.

Recorded by the band with help from TJ Doherty, Ride’s Mark Gardener, and Rick Beato, The World’s Fair EP also features contributions from musicians like Will Foster, Calina de la Mare and Sarah Willson, and can be ordered here via Outer Battery Records.
