Outer Battery Records is thrilled to announce the first-ever vinyl release of L.E.G.I.T., a rare and essential collection of tracks from venerable Brooklyn-based rockers, Obits.
Originally issued as a limited Japanese tour CD, this 12-track set captures the band’s raw energy, spanning early singles, inspired covers, and blistering live performances. Tracing the arc of Obits’ formidable run: from their first self-released single (‘One Cross Apiece’) to fearless takes on Graham Nash’s ‘Military Madness’ and The Kid’s 1978 punk anthem ‘The City is Dead’, the album also features live recordings from their legendary 2012 set at Red 7 in Austin, Texas. Previously only available as a limited 7” bundled with Sub Pop mail-order copies of the band’s Bed and Bugs LP, fans can now get to hear tracks like ‘New August’, ‘Talking to the Dog’, and ‘Refund’ once more.
L.E.G.I.T. will be officially released on 7th November 2025 and be pressed on black vinyl and a limited edition clear vinyl (300 copies)and can be pre-ordered here. The vinyl is packaged with striking artwork from late vocalist and guitarist Rick Froberg and serves as a powerful reminder of his singular artistic vision and enduring influence. In tribute to the original Japanese release, every copy of will also come wrapped with an obi strip.
For fans of Rick’s art, there will also be a handmade block print available, inspired by Rick’s cover illustration, carved and printed in the Pennsylvania mountains by J. Davis from Low Road Press, that can be bundled with the clear vinyl LP.
Fans can also still snag the Obits’ ferocious live album Die at the Zoo – available now on limited yellow vinyl while supplies last here.
