“A heady, hypnotic swirl of gothic psychedelia, Middle Eastern flavours and post-punk adrenalin […] fans of Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats and Jesus And Mary Chain will find a lot to get their teeth into here.”
CLASSIC ROCK (UK)
“Drawing from the psychedelia of 1960s pop and rock and the subsequent 1980s psychedelic revival, Summer of Hate are growing their reputation for a unique sound filled with elements of post-punk, noise rock, and Middle Eastern music.”
NEW NOISE MAGAZINE
Known for their lush, noise-drenched soundscapes and emotionally charged performances, Summer of Hate (SºH) return with ‘Além’, the brand-new single from their forthcoming double LP Blood & Honey on Tee Pee Records.
A standout moment in the band’s evolution, ‘Além’ is the album’s sole Portuguese-language track – an anomaly, a misfit, an outlier – emerging from a record built on drones, ecstatic noise, Middle Eastern echoes, dream-pop softness and a wall of sound big enough to hold back the Atlantic. Drawing on 60s psychedelia and its 80s revival, and evoking Echo & the Bunnymen, The Church and The Jesus and Mary Chain, Summer of Hate blend post-punk urgency, noise-rock textures and traces of folk into a sound unmistakably their own.
Rooted in Espinho, ‘Além’ reflects the band’s origins: the restless coastline, the violence and warmth of summer, and the melancholy of small towns dreaming outward. Raw yet tender, dirty yet luminous, the single embodies the contradictions at the heart of Blood & Honey, where goth meets hippie, rage meets comfort, and noise meets vulnerability.
Across its double-LP structure, Blood dives into global shoegaze, weaving Sufi music, dabke, raga, drone and punk propulsion into a dense, ecstatic sound-world. Honey, meanwhile, expands on the dreamlike tones of the band’s debut, channelling 60s pop romanticism through a contemporary Portuguese lens – balancing jangle, Britpop, slowcore and post-punk with melodic clarity.
Touring extensively across the Iberian Peninsula, the band has shared stages with The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Damned, Fat White Family, Sisters of Mercy, A Place to Bury Strangers, and key Portuguese acts including MAQUINA., Conferência Inferno, Solar Corona and HETTA. Their music has earned airplay on alternative radio in Portugal and the UK, solidifying their place in Portugal’s psychedelic underground.
‘Além’ was produced by Rafael B. Silver at Cisma Studios (CC Stop) and arrives with a vivid new video directed by Aniki Films (A. Nasc and Nikita Kulpinau), featuring collaborators from the band’s extended creative community.
Due for official release on 30th January 2026 via Tee Pee Records (pre-order here) Blood & Honey’s epic, anthemic spirit captures the true essence of Summer of Hate. A band deeply rooted in tradition yet fearlessly reinventing the sound of shoegaze for a new generation.
