Swedish Death Metal Supergroup Grand Cadaver Release AA-Side Single

Recorded during last year’s Deities of Deathlike Sleep sessions, the Scandinavian death metal assembly return with two new tracks on Majestic Mountain Records…

Featuring guitarists Stefan Lagergren (The Grifted/ex. Treblinka/Expulsion) and Alex Stjernfeldt (Novarupta/Let Them Hang), drummer Daniel Liljekvist (Disrupted/ex. Katatonia), Pagandom bassist Christian Jansson, and vocals from Dark Tranquillity’s Mikael Stanne, the band draws together some of the finest musicians the Swedish metal scene has to offer.

Formed in Gothenburg and Stockholm during the 2020 pandemic, every member in Grand Cadaver has been a part of the extreme metal scene since their youth, and many played a vital role in shaping the first wave of Swedish death metal in the late 80s.

New single ‘Terminal Exit’ is a sprawling death metal dirge driven deftly around the historic circuitry of Marshall stacks and HM-2s. Where traditional thrash metal meets Stockholm death metal, consuming doom and progressive rock along the way, Grand Cadaver was established to celebrate heavy metal, while seizing the moment to hang out, drink beers and share riffs and great music with friends and close allies.

“With ‘Terminal Exit’ we wanted to tap into primal, raw demonic power,” explains frontman Mikael Stanne. “We wanted to go for the kind of sheer heaviness only death metal can provide. At the same time, we wanted to explore what Grand Cadaver is and what Grand Cadaver can be, while still remembering our roots.”
